Have you ever stopped to think why it’s history rather than herstory?
After reading quite an astonishing history of House of Egibi, I learned much of what we know and do is not based on what actually happened. We’ve been lied to by governments, churches and rich societies. They’ve lied and continued to lie because they know if we knew the truth, we’d begin to use their own trickery against them. Karma.
Back in House of Egibi, the Father would hope to have many sons. If he had a daughter, she was no better than a slave or property because if the Father gave the daughter away then he would need to provide a dowry. (Perhaps, why it’s now customary to have daughter’s father pay for wedding). The dowry didn’t go into effect until the daughter had a child. Only the nobility got married and the dowry was used as a contract. If the daughter didn’t have a child or died the dowry was returned to the Father of the daughter.
In the House of Egibi case, the family were entrepreneurs in the date palm business. They’d purchase land next to the water canals and grow date palms. They’d lease part of the land for profit and also make profit from the date palms. Most of the profit they’d return to the Temples because they knew it was the Temple who had close communication with “God” and it was the Temple who told the peasants what to do. In essence, nobility had close ties with the government/church.
In the House of Egibi, they were entrepreneurs. A greedy entrepreneur knows it is better to acquire associates with wealth than to seek out an unproven speculative venture. As a result, House of Egibi, would seek out women as young as 9yrs old from family’s with wealth in an attempt to growth their empire. However, they would not seek out boys from other families because if they gave their daughter away they also were required to give a dowry.
In a business transaction, a greedy person tries to give away as little as possible in an attempt to gain as much as possible from the unsuspecting party.
Why do you think the rich keep getting richer, the churches are not-for-profit and the government never does what they say their going to do?
